Miami Sound Machine release put on hold

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the indefinite delay of our release of Miami Sound Machine’s Primitive Love.

Please understand that this is not the fault of Vibe On or Sony Music Entertainment, as both parties have worked tirelessly to put together a great package of rare and previously unreleased material, in addition to securing the legal rights to distribute the content therein.

Until very recently, the Estefans were working with Sony Music Entertainment in order to help Vibe On make this deluxe edition as exciting as possible. Unfortunately for us, and for you, their fans, they have decided to temporarily halt the CD’s release in order to focus all attention on Gloria Estefan’s upcoming album for Sony Latin.

We are offering full refunds to those who have pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Primitive Love, and are giving user-specific discount codes for our other catalog titles, as a way of apologizing for this delay. Refund notifications should arrive via email within 48 hours of this announcement.

During this time we will be removing existing information about Primitive Love from our website and social media platforms. We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to stay tuned here for more information as it becomes available! We look forward to working with the Estefans in the future and have an exciting outlook on our relationship with Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings.

Vibe On is committed to bringing some amazing titles to you very soon. We have a number of irons in the fire right now, with news to come shortly. Thank you for your patronage. It means more than you know.

You Want It Bad: Miami Sound Machine’s Primitive Love Gets Remastered with Unreleased Material

Vibe On Records expands Miami Sound Machine’s breakout LP Primitive Love

Miami Sound Machine’s Primitive Love album is getting ready to heat up 2017, more than 30 years after its original release.

Few modern-day listeners realize it because so much of the group’s back catalog languished out of print seemingly forever, but it took Miami Sound Machine nearly ten albums to score a break out hit. That hit, “Conga,” was a smash and not only allowed Miami Sound Machine to “cross over,” but also rocketed them from regional to international recognition in one fell swoop as the song became a dancefloor phenomenon.

Thanks to “Conga” and further top-ten singles “Bad Boy” and “Words Get In The Way,” it didn’t take long for Primitive Love to reach gold status. Then platinum. And platinum again two more times, eventually selling more than five million copies worldwide.

This first ever deluxe edition boasts four previously unreleased bonus tracks and an additional six which were, until now, only available on vinyl. Unreleased mixes by the Estefans’ engineer Eric Schilling make their debut on the set, along with the original demo version of the hit “Falling In Love (Uh-Oh)”. The booklet features a new essay by journalist and critic Quentin Harrison, along with input from Rolling Stone journalist Larry Flick and Billboard columnist Keith Caulfield. The album has been newly remastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios in New York, from the original master tapes.

Pre-orders for the album are being taken now via, with early orders receiving a limited CD-sized art card that will serve as an alternate album cover. Pre-order pricing is in place until the March 31 ship date. The album will be available to purchase from beginning April 14.

Cher’s I Paralyze gets the expanded treatment from Vibe On

Vibe On Records is set to expand Cher’s 1982 Columbia Records album I Paralyze

I ParalyzeCher’s oft-forgotten album I Paralyze is set to be reissued this autumn with ten bonus tracks.

Hot off the heels of her stint in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, Cher was whisked into the studio to record her first and only set for Columbia Records. Largely produced by David Wolfert, with input from John Farrar, the album was a departure from Cher’s recent disco success with Prisoner and Take Me Home.

Released in May 1982, lead single “Rudy” was a stomping pop record tailor made for mainstream success, but surprisingly underperformed. Its follow-up, the album’s title track, also received a UK release with a similar response. As such, the album missed the Billboard 200. Though one of Cher’s most overlooked, I Paralyze remains a firm fan favorite and collector’s item, with early CD issues of the album commanding a small fortune.

I ParalyzeThis first ever expanded edition boasts ten previously unreleased bonus tracks, consisting of two stunning vocal mixes of “Rudy” as well as instrumental versions of the Wolfert-produced material. The booklet features a new interview with Wolfert conducted by journalist and music critic Quentin Harrison, along with previously unpublished photos from Cher’s shoot with the legendary Harry Langdon. The album has been remastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios in New York.

Pre-orders for the album are being taken now via, with early orders receiving a limited 5″ x 5″ art card that will serve as an alternate album cover. Pre-order pricing is in place until the September 23 ship date. The album will be available to purchase from from October 7.

A pop icon and American treasure, Cher got her start as half of Sonny and Cher in the 1960s. She amassed international fame with an array of top 10 hits like “Believe” and “Take Me Home,” along with screen roles, winning an Oscar for her role in Moonstruck. Her farewell tour holds the Guinness World Record for being the highest-grossing tour of all time. Throughout her over fifty-year career, she’s amassed over 120 industry awards and continues to record and tour. Her most recent album, Closer to the Truth, was noted as debuting higher on the Billboard 200 than any of her previous solo albums.

La Toya Jackson’s “Trouble” gets a 21st century makeover!

Trouble (La Remixes)Vibe On Records is happy to announce the release of a La Toya Jackson remix package for the track “Trouble.”

Originally recorded in the late summer of 1987, “Trouble” remained buried in the record company vault for twenty-five years, until it was dug out for the deluxe edition of La Toya’s You’re Gonna Get Rocked album. Because it was not used by La Toya, producer Steve Harvey passed the track on to newcomer Nia Peeples, who hit the top forty of the Hot 100 with it in 1988, and took it to number one on the Dance/Club Play chart.

Now, nearly thirty years later, La Toya’s original recording has been remixed, revamped and reimagined by six hot remixers and producers.

Jared Jones, whose remixes of the 2003 single “Just Wanna Dance” returned La Toya to the Billboard chart after more than fifteen years, kicks off the package with both an edit for radio play and an extended version for clubs and DJs. Jones has also produced music and remixed material for the likes of Taylor Dayne, RuPaul and Solange.

Ranny (Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go”), Matt Pop (RuPaul’s “Responsitranny”), Sweet Team (Kristine W’s “The Power Of Music”), Dr. Brooks (Ari Gold’s “Human”) and Argonaut (Peter Wilson’s “I Don’t Wanna See You Cry”) also provide hot new interpretations of this nearly-forgotten gem!

TROUBLE (LA REMIXES) is available to pre-order from iTunes now and will be available from other digital retailers September 22. A limited edition maxi-CD will be released the same day, available exclusively at, that includes an exclusive megamix of cuts from La Toya’s You’re Gonna Get Rocked album. Vibe On is encouraging customers to pre-order, as only those who order prior to the release date are guaranteed a copy.

Perhaps best known for her stints in reality TV, her spread in Playboy magazine and of course, her family name, La Toya Jackson is a musical powerhouse in her own right. Jackson has racked up a collection of Billboard chart hits of her own, in addition to earning a Grammy for songwriting (Jimmy Cliff, The Power and the Glory) and holding residency before it was the norm (Moulin Rouge, 1992). She released nine albums from 1980 through 1995 before launching her own label, Ja-Tail Records, in 2003.

La Toya Jackson’s “Bad Girl” gets Badder with Vibe On Records

Bad GirlVibe On is happy to announce our first release to come in the spring of 2015: a two-disc deluxe edition of La Toya Jackson’s “Bad Girl.”

Originally released as a twelve-track album in 1990 via Sherman Records, Vibe On’s deluxe edition of “Bad Girl” includes a whopping TWENTY bonus tracks, consisting of highly sought-after remixes and previously-unreleased tracks.

Largely recorded in Germany in the summer of 1989, Jackson’s label was aiming to refresh her musical output by pairing her with producer Tony Monn. Monn had European disco-pop roots, working previously with Judy Cheeks and Amanda Lear and, with “Bad Girl,” was able to help Jackson grow in the pop direction with which she was most comfortable.

Fans of La Toya — affectionately referred to by Jackson as her “Toy Soldiers” — often quote material from “Bad Girl” as being among their favorite. Sitting alongside an ode to Jackson’s brother, Michael, “He’s My Brother,” the dance number “Do The Salsa” sees La Toya’s first foray into the Latin-pop sound she returned to with her major comeback album “Startin’ Over” in 2003 and again in 2014 with “Dimelo.” Another Jackson classic, “Playboy,” was performed at many of her early 1990s shows, including Bob Hope’s USO tour.

Vibe On’s deluxe edition of “Bad Girl” includes all released mixes of the singles “Bad Girl” and “Sexual Feeling,” in addition to previously-unreleased versions of “Playboy,” “You and Me” and “He’s My Brother.” The 1991 BCM Records single “Why Don’t You Want My Love?” also makes an appearance, in both its original incarnation and several remixes.
